In the olden times, Filipinos practiced a caste system that classified society members as Datus (ruling class), Maharlikas (nobles) or Alipins (slaves). The common folk were known as Timawas.

Timawas were either born into their caste or former "alipins" who released from the bonds of slavery. Hence, the term "tinimawa" is literally, "to become free".

So many things ... so little time

I've missed training for two straight weeks now and it makes me wonder how long it will be until I'm back on the mat. My life is now one big juggling act with work and school taking center-stage.

Funny how one of my classmates said that if there's one thing a part-time MBA will teach you is how to manage your time. Never saw it that way but her statement did change my perspective.

There are never enough hours in a day, don't you think?

Sometimes, I think that we, as productive beings, should be critical about how much time other people put into their work or into their passions. After all, time is all we ever have that we never really can call our own.

Then again, how we view time is subjective. What can be a one-minute wait for someone may be an hour for another. So, it's always best to make the best of whatever time we have. What a waste it would be to throw away this resource! Probably the most important one in the world.

So, whenever I find myself staring off into space, I just stop myself to think that this pause - however short or long it may be - is there to remind me (first) of my existence and (second) of the time that I still have to keep me moving in my life.
